If you’ve purchased a firearm online, or would like a NICS check for your private sale, we are happy to facilitate. We perform background checks Monday through Friday exclusively at our Merrillville location. Whether it is a handgun or a rifle, all NICS checks and FFL transfers are just $35.00 for the first firearm, $25.00 for each additional firearm. Every fifth transfer with us is free! If you’d like to have your purchase shipped to us, or have any questions, email us at guns@pawnkingnwi.com. 

If you ordered through Gunbroker, Buds, Classic Firearms, or many other popular sites, you may be able to select us as your FFL and a copy of our license will be sent automatically. If you’ve ordered from any other website, contact us Monday through Friday and we’ll help get the ball rolling. 

• All FFL transfers and NICS checks are just $35.00 for the first firearm, $25.00 for each addition firearm. Every fifth transfer is FREE!  
• Please keep in mind we can only transfer to Indiana state residents over the age of 21 with a valid government issued photo ID.  
• Our Firearms department is open Monday through Friday, from 10am until 5pm exclusively at our Merrillville location.  
• The required NICS check can take a matter of a few minutes, or it could take longer depending on a number of factors that we are not in control of. Make sure when you visit you plan accordingly.  
• Keep an eye on the tracking number your seller provides. If the seller provides us with proper contact information we’ll get in touch when your shipment arrives, but the best bet for you is to keep an eye on your shipment.

To complete an in store purchase, layaway pick up, or FFL transfer an appointment is required. No appointment is needed for loan redemptions, although you are welcome to set one up if you are pressed for time.

Once we receive your shipment, we will get in touch to set up an appointment to perform the NICS check and complete your transfer. NICS check appointments are subject to availability, Monday through Friday. We understand that life is what happens when you are busy making other plans, but please note: If you miss your appointment and do not call prior to let us know that you can’t make it, you will not be given another appointment for three business days. 

Please be punctual in keeping your appointment. In order to best serve all our clients that are punctual, being more than 15 minutes late will result in your appointment being canceled.

If you can’t make it to your appointment, please be courteous and give us a call. Time is money, to recover our valuable time $10.00 will be added to the normal $35.00 NICS service fee for each “No call/No show” appointment.

We sell our guns exclusively at our Merrillville location, al the firearms we have available can be seen on our company branded website.

Due to the volume of firearm transactions we handle daily, an appointment is required to pick up a purchase from us. 

Local Pick Up in Three Easy Steps: 

1. Find a firearm you’d like to purchase on our site. 
2. Select and complete your purchase. 
3. Call for an appointment. 

If you would like to see the gun in person before you pay, or if you would like to pay cash in store you will still need an appointment. In this case make an offer on the gun, if we accept your offer you can get in touch to set up the required appointment. If we cannot accept your offer we will not counter the offer, we’ll decline and tell you in the message portion what our best price is, and how much to offer. Only an offer that we accept will hold the firearm from being sold for 24 hours. 

Shipments: 

Not in our neck of the woods? We can ship your purchase to a dealer of your choice, we’ll just need a copy of their license for our files. Our shipping is lightning fast, most purchases will ship on the same day that we receive your FFL’s license. Once your purchase is complete please get in touch to make arrangements. We are happy to reach out to your dealer on your behalf, or you can have them email a copy of their FFL to us directly: guns@pawnkingnwi.com

Layaways can only be started in store. To start a layaway it’s 20% of the total amount,. You’ll have 90 days to pay in full, with 10% payments due each month until payment is complete.

As you’ll be told in store, NICS services for layaways are by appointment only, and are conducted Monday through Friday. Monday through Thursday from 10:30am until 5pm, Fridays from 10:30am until 1pm. If you plan to pick up your layaway please call or email ahead to set up an appointment.

We can only transfer guns to Indiana state residents with valid government issued ID. While we will accept a state issued, state IDs must be issued longer than 90 days prior to the date NICS services are to be rendered. Company policy dictates that we only sell or transfer firearms to persons over the age of 21. 

To avoid potential straw purchases, only the sender of a firearm can change the name of the person who will receive the gun. We will only transfer a weapon to the person listed on the invoice from the seller. 

Firearms transferred to American Traders Inc, dba Pawn King  are considered abandoned if not picked up within 90 calendar days from the date the firearm was received, unless other arrangements were made, and agreed to by Pawn King.

30 days after the firearm is received, $5.00 per day will be added to the normal transfer fee. Please make sure that your seller has your correct contact information. We will attempt to contact you three times to set up an appointment to transfer your purchase. If 90 calendar days from the date the weapon was received by Pawn King there has been no contact or agreements in place, the firearm will be considered abandoned and will be sold to recover accrued storage fees. All funds collected from the sale of an abandoned and sold firearm shall belong to American Traders Inc, dba Pawn King, the intended recipient of such firearm shall not have any recourse against Pawn King, its owners, agents, or successors.
